About Ship

ship MV Kavaratti, which is owned by Lakshadweep Administration and designed particularly to promote Lakshadweep tourism. This ship is having 120 meter length with 700 passenger carrying capacity and 200 Metric tons of cargo. MV Kavaratti is big ship and one of the largest passenger ships owned by Government of India. The ship is fully air-conditioned with sophisticated cabin and other amenity facilities. The Ship has six decks, in each deck has cabin class, Bunk class accommodation and the topmost being an open deck with the bridge/ mini helipad. The open area set up for passengers airing/ entertaining.
The ship is having facilities like, Hospital, Police, Information desk, and dedicated crew members for all service, two cafeterias, snack shop, recreation room (theatre), swimming pool, site seeing balcony, CCTV etc.

There are three type of accommodation available in the ship.
First Class cabin (Diamond):– This cabin is having two beds, attached bathroom, wardrobe, table & chair, each bed has curtain for privacy.
Second Class cabin (Gold):- This cabin is having four beds, attached bathroom, wardrobe, chairs, each bed has curtain for privacy.

Bunk Class: – This is common accommodation, in one area there will 6-8 bed and each bed has curtain for privacy, bath attached (separate for ladies & gents), fully Air conditioned.
Both Veg and Non-veg foods are available on the ship.
A small boat will pick you at the disembarkation point from the ship and will take you to the jetty on the island. Some islands have disembarkation jetty.


Do’s and Don’ts

1. Make sure your reservation of tour in advance before leaving your station. 

2. Carry your special brand of medicines, cosmetics, cigarettes etc. as only ordinary varieties will be available on the islands.
3. While on board the ship, a representative of SPORTS has been specially designated to assist you. In case of any difficulty, please avail of his services.

1. Do not carry narcotics or drugs. It is a punishable offence. 

2. Do not swim or sunbathe nude. It is prohibited. 

3. Do not go out of your island lagoon without permission of the authorities and without a proper escort. It can be risky.

 4. Do not pluck tender coconuts yourself. The trees are privately owned and unauthorized plucking of coconuts is a theft. Also a fall from the palm can prove dangerous. 

5. Do not Litter the land or the water. It pollutes.

6. Do not pick up corals as souvenirs. It is a punishable offence. 

7. Do not use alcoholic’s drinks, intoxicants in the islands. There is prohibition on all islands except Bangaram
